It’s like going to a piano (or any musical instrument, really), and playing C-D-E-F-G-A-B, and stopping. Just… finish the thing already!

Exactly! It leaves you with that odd feeling in your brain. Hurts.

Thank you! I will gladly leave my soul in the hands of Cthulhu if it means being spared the agony today.

Nancy – That’s an old music major prank. When I was a teacher, I’d play it on sleeping piano students. You just quietly play C D E F G A B (pause a few seconds) C D E F G A B (pause a few seconds)… after a few repetitions, you’ll actually see the person twitch.
Usually they wake up, too… but in a high school classroom, they wake up because of the giggling classmates, not the incomplete scale.

This made me immensely happy, even if I did find it a couple of days late.
