The Spring Thing on Saturday turned out to be a lot of fun! I was a bit nervous, as this was my first arts & crafts show and I was unsure of what to expect. But the other vendors were friendly and I got to meet a lot of interesting people. It was especially exciting to meet a few people from the internet (is there really a better description?).
I took some photos of the show, which I’ve put up in a Facebook album. You don’t need to like Cthulhu Chick on Facebook to see the album, it’s open to the public (though liking it means you’ll get more updates than I blog about).
Some newer items I brought included Pirate Cthulhu and Ninjathulhu. They look quite cute in the pictures, and they’ve all sold. I’ll be doing more of those on commission and possibly stock some in my store soon. I’m also working on a special project right now—something the internet seems to want.
Also, if you’re interested in one of the regular, cuddly, or Baby’s First Cthulhus pictured, let me know because there are a bit over half of those left.

Tomorrow, some 30-odd Cthulhus and I will be at the D.C. Craft Mafia’s Spring Thing. Here are the vital stats & info on where to find me there:
When: 5/21/2011, 11am-5pm
Where: P St., NW & 15th St., NW, Washington, D.C.
(in the parking lot of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1514 15th St NW)

The Craft Mafia has sent vendors a map showing where we’ll be within the fair. I’m in space 33, which I’ve marked with a red X in the picture below:

It’s not too big, so it should be easy to find me anyway. Look for the friendly-but-nervous girl surrounded by Cthulhus (and a giant redheaded Scotsman). I’m bringing Chefs, Cylons, Daleks, and even the brand new NinjaThulhu, plus regular Tinies, Wees, and Cuddlies.
Looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it!

On May 21st, I’ll be participating in my first arts & crafts show, the “Spring Thing” put on by the D.C. Craft Mafia. I’ll join about 40 other artists and crafters outside St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in NW DC. St. Luke’s is on the corner of 15th & P, NW, a few blocks from Dupont Circle (or a few more blocks from Farragut North/West, if you feel like it).
It runs from 11am to 5pm, rain or shine (I’ll have a tent top over the table, feel free to come stand under it if there’s rain or too much shine). I’d love to meet any of you folks who decide to come out for it! ProfX will be there as well, keeping me sane…as sane as a girl surrounded by Cthulhus can be, anyway.
I’ve been working on building up a proper stock to bring—there will be regular Cthulhus, Baby’s First Cthulhus, Weethulhus, Cylon Cthulhus (wee and regular), Chefthulhus (wee and regular), Cuddly Cthulhus…and we’ll see what else. Whatever doesn’t sell will most likely go into the store, although I might offer a few popular items on Twitter first.
There’ll be food, entertainment, adoptable pets, and lots of other artists/crafters. I’ve met a few and visited some others’ websites. It sounds like it’s going to be a fun day! And afterward, I’ll definitely post pics of my table.
You can check out the DC Craft Mafia’s blog for more updates and artist spotlights.

After a few weeks of mad crocheting, I’ve finished all the Carethulhus for the R’lyief Sale. I made a total of 19 Carethulhus, some normal Weethulhus and some wee-sized versions of Chefthulhu, etc. In total, it raised $145 for the Red Cross’s Japan Fund and $67 for MSF ($212 total). I made the donations on the evening of April 12, with receipts below.
Red Cross Donation Receipt

MSF Donation Receipt

I also had a real life acquaintance offer to donate $25 to MSF in exchange for 2 Carethulhus when she gives me the receipt. But she wanted me to finish the online part first.
List of the Carethulhus
If you’re interested in a breakdown of the Carethulhus, the donations, etc, you can see it below. Fee is the PayPal fee, $0.46 is the box, Shipping Cost is the cost to mail, and the Donation Net is the leftover. I rounded $144.73 up to $145 for Red Cross and rounded the $67.06 down from MSF (part of that going to Red Cross).

(the final purple one was ordered by someone who ordered a regular Cthulhu, too, so her payment was slightly less since it just had to make up the shipping difference.)
Pirate Cthulhu
The R’lyief Sale led to the creation of a new kind of Cthulhu: Pirate-Cthulhu!

Right now Pirate-Cthulhu is not available in the store, but he may be in the future. I’ll keep you posted on the blog/Twitter/Facebook.
