Running Into Calibre EPUB Conversion Problems
February 10th, 2011 · Leave a CommentUpdate: I got a hold of Sigil, a free EPUB editor which gives much more control than Calibre did and have been making progress. The book should be coming in a week or so. (2/18/11)
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m working on an EPUB version of all of Lovecraft’s fiction. I have an HTML file ready to go, but I’ve been running into errors in converting it into EPUB. These errors are mostly line-breaks following italicized or otherwise emphasized words. It doesn’t happen to every italicized word, but I can’t pick out a pattern of why it does or doesn’t happen. Lovecraft was unfortunately rather fond of emphasizing words.
I’ve been using Calibre to run the conversions. There are a few other options I’m going to be looking into, like changing the HTML document into a Word document or even using Markup instead of HTML. But I’m also looking for alternative conversion options/programs or any troubleshooting suggestions if you’re familiar with Calibre.
